Licensees may not receive credit toward completed CE hours for taking the same CE course within two years.

At its April 13, 2022, meeting, the NC Board of Funeral Service approved a general waiver of the rule regarding online Continuing Education credits.  Under this waiver, licensees may accrue up to 10 hours of online credit from April 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022.  Five 5 hours of online credit may be applied to the 2023 license renewal cycle and up to five 5 hours credit may be rolled over to the 2024 renewal cycle.  Those licensees who were awarded online CE credit from January 1, 2022, through March 31, 2022, were allowed under a previous waiver to accrue up to 10 hours of online credit.  As with the current waiver, those licensees with 10 hours of online credit awarded during this time period may apply five 5 hours to the 2023 renewal cycle and roll over the remaining 5 hours to the 2024 renewal cycle.

Beginning January 1, 2023, and continuing through March 31, 2023, licensees may accrue up to 10 hours of online CE credit.  The Board may consider whether or not to continue the waiver for online credit hours after March 31, 2023, by approving a new waiver.

I know the Board has had a complete makeover with regards to staff in the last couple of years. Let me just stay...Thank you Jesus!!! I have found that the current staff members that I have spoken to in the last year have been very kind, courteous and professional. They have also not delayed in helping me whether it be handling a task, referring me to another more capable staff member for my question or just giving me advice. I thought after talking with Stephen Davis of the Board it was time I place a review. He was in deed a pleasure to speak with. He was patient and sympathetic to my situation and was quite happy to help in any way he could. Stephen was very professional, yet very kind. Life is stressful enough as it is, especially in the funeral professional. Just being kind makes daily living so much nicer. Thank you Stephen Davis for your help and kindness!

Believe me, this agency will not help you. I presented evidence and even the funeral home admitted to wrong doing in writing. The North Carolina Board of Funeral services did nothing. They claim there were no violations. Although there were signs of advanced decomposition on my mother's body, they dressed the wrong deceased person in my mother's clothing , they did not tag or identify the bodies and the funeral home which resulted in the mix up, they didn't close the casket completely before it was lowered into the vault likely due to defects in the casket. According to the North Carolina Board of Funeral Services, there were no violations. It is OK for a funeral home to do this. Very unethical.

If you go to their website and read the minutes from their meetings, these N.C. funeral homes are engaging in egregious acts and only getting a slap of the wrist from the funeral services board. I was extremely disappointment in their ruling on the case that I filed. The organization seems to be a group of funeral directors pretending to hold other funeral directors accountable. I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get the case heard for it to only result in the funeral home having to pay THEM a small fine (keep in mind, we're the family that paid a lot of money to be mistreated and the funeral board gets the money????). Ridiculous system!
